Merriam-webster dictionary describes mastery as (a: possession or display of great skill or technique b: skill or knowledge that makes one master of a subject). So the question is. How does one become a master of any given subject? According to George Leonard, author of Education and Ecstacy and The Way of Aikido, mastery is the act of setting your foot on the path.

As a fifth Dan black belt in Aikido and award -winning writer on education, fitness, and personal development, Leonard is very familiar with mastery and what he has to say on the subject is very liberating.

There are no shortcuts, he say's no special tickets needed, and none available even if you wanted one. You don't need to be born with special abilities to enter into mastery, nor is it reserved for the super-talented. You don't even need to have gotten an early start.

Abert Einstein said it like this "Only one who devotes himself to a cause with his whole strength and soul can be a true master. For this reason mastery demands all of a person."

The upward journey of success is available to anyone who is willing to get on the path and stay on it. But it's only being immersed in the process, the day-by-day progression, that you will come to know the road. That's how you will aquire and refine the skills and awareness you'll need to become a master.

I submit to you that you are already a master. As a baby you had to overcome many obstacles. Take walking for one, you didn't just say one day I am going to get up off my hands and knees and walk. You had to take baby steps. When you failed (fell) you didn't just give up and say well I guess this walking thing isn't for me, I think I will just crawl for the rest of my life-which really isn't that bad.. Of course not. You were on the path of mastery. You were already a master and now it was only a matter of your walking skills catching up.

As we grow up we spend our life hearing more no's than yes-es which really makes it hard for us to stay positive but you must if your going to master any given subject or skill. In the past I had personally failed at Internet Marketing at least twice, but I learned something each time and I have this passion (Desire) in me that keeps me on the road to success.

I will leave you with this quote from Napoleon Hill's book, Think and Grow Rich "There is one quality which one must possess to win, and that is definiteness of purpose, the knowledge of what one wants, and a burning desire to possess it"
